The design interweaves residential courtyards with the traditional layout of western Hunan’s ancient towns, fostering organic village-style clusters. This layout, with its meandering streets and alleys, forms intimate public courtyards. Inspired by the region’s historic urban design, the alternating pattern of storefronts and private homes offers both openness and seclusion, with each street section establishing a distinct spatial node that enriches the visitor experience.
